Immersive Room In JB: Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) Case Study

The immersive room at the Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) Experience Centre in Johor Bahru showcases how immersive technology is transforming the way large-scale developments are communicated. Located in Medini, Iskandar Puteri, this purpose-built immersive environment was designed to translate complex smart city visions, infrastructure planning, and investment strategies into engaging, spatial experiences.

Breaking away from the limitations of traditional reports and static displays, visitors are invited to step into a fully realized future environment, where they can intuitively grasp project logic, experience spatial relationships, and explore development potential. By integrating large-scale visuals, interactive storytelling, and spatial design, the experience not only enhances communication efficiency but also creates a highly persuasive, immersive decision-making environment.

The Challenge: Making a Complex Future Easy to Understand

Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) needed a way to present Medini’s long-term development vision, where covering multiple projects, technologies, and timelines in a format that was clear, engaging and easy to understand for diverse audiences.

Traditional presentation methods such as sliders, reports, and static displays made it difficult to:

  • Visualize scale and spatial relationships
  • Understand how projects connect within the Medini ecosystem
  • Communicate future developments that are not yet built

The Solution: Designing a Dedicated Immersive Room

To address this, IIB developed a dedicated immersive room within the IIB Experience Centre (IIBEX), designed specifically for vision communication and stakeholder engagement.

The immersive room was designed to:

  • Surround visitors with large-scale, wraparound visuals
  • Present Medini’s vision through guided immersive storytelling
  • Show future developments, districts , and technologies in spatial context
  • Create a shared experience for briefings, presentations, and discussions

In addition, within the Immersive Zone, visitors can experience a 3D immersive anamorphic projection spanning three walls and the floor, offering a breathtaking journey into the heart of Medini’s vision. This approach replaces fragmented explanations with a single, coherent immersive narrative.

The Result: A Fully Realized Immersive Room Experience

The outcome is a functional immersive room that serves as the centrepiece of the IIB Experience Centre. Visitors now experience through the immersive room:

  • Overall master plan visualization: The development  of Medini’s smart, sustainable future where help audiences understand scale and connectivity without ambiguity.
  • Technology & Innovation Storytelling: Immersive reality are integrated into the visual narrative, helping visitors grasp how Medini is positioned as a future innovation hub.
  • Strategic Engagement: The immersive room now supports presentations, briefings, and discussions in a way that static visuals or charts cannot, turning abstract development plans into something people can physically step into and explore
